2018 Winter Olympics

Every four years one of the most anticipated athletic events takes place. Officially known as the XXIII Olympic Winter Games or commonly known this year as PyeongChang, the Winter Olympics draws viewers from all over the world. The games opened on February 9th and the came to a close on February 25th.

More than 90 nations came together with 2,922 athletes to compete in various winter sporting events. Of those 2,922 athletes 1,680 men and 1,242 women participated in 102 events in 15 sports.

The country to walk away with the most medals was Norway with 14 gold medals, 14 silver medals and 11 bronze medals with the grand total of 39 medals. Overall, the United States placed fourth with 9 gold, 8 silver and 6 bronze totaling to 23. The host country South Korea came in seventh with 5 gold, 8 silver, and 4 bronze medals and walked away with 14 medals.

Many Olympians broke records this year and 13 new records were made. All in all, the Olympic Winter Games were great this year.
