As the curtains close for It’s a Wonderful Life, the curtains will open once again for the musical, Once Upon a Mattress. Once Upon a Mattress is a story about a prince, Dauntless, trying to find a bride. They have searched all the neighboring kingdoms, but no princesses seem to be suitable for the Queen. The Queen is the one trying to find a genuine princess, but has to make sure she is perfect, and so far, none have met her standards. Then, a princess, Winifred, comes to see if she is suitable. Dauntless and Winifred fall in love through song and dance, but the queen won’t have it. The queen then needs to test her. She and a wizard plan to put 20 mattresses in one room with a tiny pea under it to test Winifred’s sensitivity.
