New Year Means Change?

Gianna Rispoli

January 1, 2019 rolls around and you say to yourself “Today’s the day… New year, new me!” At this time, people everywhere make lists of resolutions they would like to follow through with for the upcoming year. Eat healthier. Workout more. Read more often. Sleep more. These are great ideas, but will you really be able to complete them? Are you committed to these or will you stop after a month? Resolutions may seem important but there is a large chance that they will die down after time goes by. Instead, set goals. Make reminders to do simple activities rather than having broad and vague intentions. Be specific with yourself. To start, build to-do lists. Whether it’s written in your phone or on a sheet of paper, these small goals will allow you to take action. Each day, make a list of your goals. As you complete them, cross of each one. If not completed that day, try the next day, and so on and so forth. Give yourself time to complete your goals, but not too much time. Make your goals simple and natural. The key to completing each item on your list is to be consistent. Constantly scribble down goals to keep yourself on track. In order to see results, you must follow through. Once turning your resolutions into goals, turn those goals into habits. Make your goals a routine. This system of taking action is sure to help you throughout the new year. If you have a list of resolutions, turn them into goals, complete those goals, and enjoy the new year. Happy 2019!
