Families gather around their television in excitement for the biggest American game of the year. Making its fifty-second appearance, the Super Bowl is watched by over 111 million Americans annually. Rather than the game, many viewers look forward to its commercials. The ads during the game can be hysterical, but these viewers have no idea about the amount of work that is put into every one of them.

The cost for one of these advertisements is unbelievable. During Super Bowl XXXVI in 2002, the average cost of a 30-second commercial was about $2.3 million. But just last year in 2017, the cost for the commercials averaged out to around $5 million; meaning that one second of Super Bowl advertising cost $166,667! During all 51 years of the Super Bowl, companies have spent a total of $4.6 billion just to present their company name during the Super Bowl.

Many companies compete to gain the title “Best Super Bowl commercial” with the ultimate goal being to sell more product. Social media has tried to rank these commercials, but the choice comes down to each viewer. Every person has a different perspective, but here are the top ten Super Bowl commercials of 2018:

  • Febreze – “The Only Man Whose Bleep Don’t Stink”

All in all, the “best” commercial comes down to the viewer, and we want to know what you think. Vote for your favorite commercial to determine which one ranks as Whippany Park’s favorite.
